Oral Appliance
At BDG we recommend Oral Appliances to patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea or for those who could not tolerate the CPAP. This can also be an excellent option for patients for whom travelling with a CPAP is not practical.

What does an oral appliance do?
When we fall asleep our jaw and neck muscles relax which causes the mouth and subsequently the tongue to fall backwards, which in turn causes the airspace to narrow. An oral appliance stabilizes the jaw so it is unable to retreat as we sleep. This allows the airspace to stay open and a continuous flow of air can be maintained.
